Misc Techie question

Post by Cynic »

anyone know of a free private wiki software?

I need to have the ability to restrict access to specific individuals for specific activities.

So we should have three specific lists.

LIst 1.) Members who can view

List 2.) Members who can view and edit.

List 3.) members who can view, edit, and create.

List 4.) Probably the admins who can do all of the above.

You should look at DokuWiki. It's built to not use a database, has a syntax similar to MediaWiki, and has user and group based access control. It still takes Apache and PHP to install and use, but those are standard with most hosting companies.

For a comparison list of Wikis check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... i_software
For a list of personal Wikis check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_wiki

Hm, I'm thinking of using this for an NPO so Confluence's zero-cost license for NPOs might work. I've sent them a query e-mail. It probably might not work out because our NPO does some work that seems to vaguely violate their TOS.
